CIC Life Assurance Limited was incorporated on 29th July 2009 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of CIC Insurance Group Plc in compliance with Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) directive of separating business of life and general. It was duly registered and licensed on 27th November 2012.

Alinane Tembo is Manager Organisational Readiness responsible for change management at Standard Bank Plc. She has more than 22 years’ experience in Human Resources Management. She joined Standard Bank Plc in September 2010 as Senior Business Partner People and Culture. Alinane previously worked
as Administration Manager for Admarc Mw Ltd from August 2007 to September 2010; before joining Admarc she was Administration and Human Resources Manager for Manica Mw Ltd from November 2004 to July 2007. Alinane started her career in November 2001 with the Reserve Bank of Malawi as Personnel Officer.

Alinane is currently serving as Board Director for Sparc Microgrants. She has served as Employee Panellist for the Industrial Relations Court from 2012 to 2015; also, as a member of the Strategy Sub Committee of ECAM from 2013 to 2015 and Councillor of MCCCI from January 2006 to December 2009.

Alinane has a Master of Science in Strategic Management from the University of Derby, she is also a Licenced Practitioner for Insights Discovery and a Certified Strategic Human Resources Professional by the International Institute for Executive Training. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration from the University of Malawi.

Chifundo holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Derby, is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a Certified Accountant in Malawi. She is a decisive business executive with 20 years post qualification experience in areas spanning Strategic & financial planning, Business analysis, Financial reporting, Treasury & risk management and has held senior positions in the Telecommunications, Petroleum and Agricultural sectors. She is passionate about building business partnerships, championing continuous process improvements and maximising resource utilisation.

Dr. Nelson Kuria MBS, OGW, F.IoDK

Dr. Nelson Kuria holds a B.A in Economics and M.A in Leadership. He has worked for over 36 years’ experience in the Financial Services sector, and retired after serving for 14 years as Group MD/CEO of CIC insurance Group and is credited with transforming the CIC Insurance Group from a very small co-operative insurer to the third biggest insurance group in Kenya by the time he retired in February 2015.

He has served as Chairman of the Association of Kenya Insurers, Deputy Chairman of Federation of Kenya Employers, Co-operative University and board member of many organizations, notably; Kenya Reinsurance Corporation, Takaful Insurance of Africa, Kenyatta National Hospital, College of Insurance and the International Co-operative & Mutual Insurance Federation. He has served as a member of three UN Expert Group meetings on co-operatives. In 2013, he was a member of the Presidential Task Force on Parastatal reforms. Most recently he was Chairperson of the National Co-operative Policy Operationalization Task Force.

In the insurance industry Dr. Kuria was honoured with the Life Time Achievement Award in 2012. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Leadership by the Swiss Management Academy in 2017 and Fellow of the Institute of Directors (F.IoDK) in 2019 by the Institute of Directors in Kenya.

Currently, Dr. Kuria is Chairman of CIC Group, the Governing Council of Africa International University, Smep Microfinance Bank and Kenya National Entrepreneurs Savings Trust. Dr. Kuria is a regular speaker/trainer in both local and international conferences and seminars in insurance, co-operatives, leadership, governance and retirement planning.

Philip Kimani

Philip holds a Master of Science in Professional Accountancy from University of London and Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting. He is a Certified Accountant and Member of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Philip has over seventeen years of experience mainly in the Insurance Sector. Prior to joining CIC Group, he was the Chief Finance Officer & Principal Officer for Jubilee Insurance Company. He previously held Senior Management roles at Resolution Insurance, WPP Scan group and PricewaterhouseCoopers where he began his career. He has a wealth of experience in Strategic planning, Investment management, Financial and Risk Management.

Mr. Fumbani Nyangulu

Mr Fumbani Nyangulu is currently the Chief Executive Officer Malawi Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives Limited (MUSCCO). He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree obtained from University of Malawi- The Polytechnic. He is a seasoned Finance specialist.

For the past 24 years, he has been responsible for the Financial services and Business Development Functions in the Malawi Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (MUSCCO) as well as Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCO) Development which involved providing consultancy and training services to Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs) in the areas of Strategic Financial Management, Accounting, Governance, Audit, Products Development, Credit Management and Information Risk Management. He is currently Chief Executive of MUSCCO and is a full International Cooperative Development Educator (ICUDE). Before joining MUSCCO in 1997, Mr Nyangulu worked as an Assistant Accountant of Wood Industries Corporation Ltd for one year.

2. CIC Cooperatives General Insurance as a Board member and is also a member of Finance, Administration and Governance Committee;

3. CIC Cooperatives Life Insurance Board member and is also a member of Finance, Administration and Governance Committee;

4. Malawi Investment and Trade Center (MITC) as a Board member and is also a Chairperson of the Finance and Administration Committee;

5. Micro Finance Hub Company as a Board member as well as a member of the Finance and Administration Committee

6. Farmers Union of Malawi (FUM) Holdings Ltd as a Board member.

Mr. Allabi Jackson Mailosi is the Company Secretary for CIC-Africa Co-operatives Insurance Limited. He is a lawyer by profession with over 4 years’ post-qualification experience. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Malawi and a Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development from Vantage Africa School of Leadership. He has worked in private practice as a Legal Practitioner at the Firm of Messers Chidothe, Chidothe & Company in Blantyre.

Violet Yolanda Ntonya is Human Resource Manager For CIC Africa. She has practiced Human Resources since 2014 and has worked with different local and global NGOs and private companies.
As a self-starter, Violet has worked for multiple companies that lacked proper HR infrastructure and has successfully introduced them to needed best practices that maintain the organizations to this date.
Currently, Violet is obtaining her MA in International Human Resource Management at the Liverpool John Moore University.
